What was happening in 2014? How do the products reflect the society in 2014 when it was produced?
-In 2014 there were difficulteconomic conditions created by government measures to reduce public
expenditure due to the economic slump and world wide recession that began 2008.
-Vertrivous Lego model is black which reflects Morgan Freedman as he is the voiceover. The normal stereotype of black people are that they are the villains so this is a counter-type of this. He is also wearing white showing porosity and of age. As well as being the only black character and having powers differentiates him from the rest of the cast.
-Lego has never created any black model pieces before 2010 as from then the Equality Act stopped any discrimination of numerous things, including colour and race, so by Lenny Henrys Lego piece being black reflects the society in 2014 highlighting the shift in diversity.
-To the rise of feminism helps influence Wyldstyle as she isn't stereotypical to female representation so being weak and venerable (against Propp theory).
-The hero is a male which conforms to the typical stereotype that men are the hero and more dominant than women, however he also goes against the 'hero' type as he is shown as weak and not 'looking' like a 'hero' (being strong...).
