EXAM STRUCTURE













Paper One Section A: TV

Q1: 
5 marks= 2 points.
Only analyse ONE element of media language for the extract.

Q2:
10 marks= 3 points.
Must make analysis and judgment to one or more areas based on media language and representations. (maybe context).
Must write a short sentence or two at the end which sums up judgement(s).

Q3:
15 marks= 4 points (or 3 well developed).
10 marks for analysis and 5 points for judgement.
Extended response and will focus on media language and representation (but might only be one area).
Must refer to all of LARI C.
Must write a conclusion which draws in our overall judgement.

Q4:
5 marks= 2 points.
It will be TV industry focused question and is there to test your knowledge and understanding- PSB, BBC, technology, regulation, diverse audiences etc.

Q5:
10 marks= 3 points.
Always be the influence of media contexts. (social, cultural or historical).
Must refer to the TV drama they have provided.
Cuffs:
-Homosexuality
-Multicultural cast
-Equality
Avengers:
-Heterosexuality
-All white cast
-Rise in feminism/female equality

Paper One Section B: Promoting Media

Q6:
1 mark.
Knowledge based.
Either need to identify or define.

Q7:
4 marks= 2 points or explain one in detail.
Show knowledge and understanding of any media forms: Films, Advertising and marketing or Video Games.

Q8:
10 marks= 3 points.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding.
Asked about audience, codes and conventions of the production, media language ect.

Q9:
10 marks= 3 points.
Analysis question based on either media language, representation or audience.
You will only be asked about advertising or video games not films.
You will need to know the set texts in terms of media language, genre, audience, codes and conventions, representation ect...
The poster and packaging of the video game will be provided in an insert, the TV advert will not be.

Paper Two Section A: Music 

Q1:
1 mark.
Knowledge based.
Identify or define.

Q2:
4 marks= 2 points.
Knowledge and understanding based.

Q3:
10 marks= 3 points.
In relation to any relevant area of LARI C in relation to either of your set music videos, MOJO magazine or Radio 1 Live Lounge.

Q4:
5 maks= 2 points.
Analyse media language or media representations with redirect to a provided extract.

Q5:
15 marks= 4 points.
Always be about media language.
You are required to make comparisons about two magazine extracts. One will be from MOJO and the other will be an unknown magazine.

Paper Two Section B: News

Q6:
1 mark.
Knowledge based question.
Identify or define.

Q7:
4 marks= 2 points.
Explain in detail about knowledge and understanding of News as a form e.g. funding models, regulations.

Q8:
5 marks= 2 points.
Analyse either media language or representation in relation to an extract from The Observer online or print.

Q9:
15 marks= 4 points.
10 marks for analysis and 5 for judgment.
Based on media language or representation in relation to print newspapers or any area of the framework for online.
Must analyse and make judgements.

Q10:
10 marks= 3 points.
Influence of media contexts.
It will not refer to a specific historical or contemporary context (this is up to you).
Need to show your understanding of the influence of media context in relation to either historical or contemporary News.
Eg. female vs male politicians, the way divorce was covered, espionage and cold war.
